The word sol is indeed Hispanish-like and means "GODS" , sorry to ruin your fun.

The word sol is being used as meaning 'dearest' or ' lovely'

 Indeed it sure does come from religious ways and was misused someway against virgins and that was done by filthy priests that putted the people under poison and made then slaves of lies.

Then a man stood up and ended that way of thinking and the  sacrification by just murdering those priests and so his name became a meaning.
